Achia Nymph, my Paulomi!

Mother to her Barbie dolls

Dreams of a home in makeshift toys

Marries them off with mother’s tattered sari…

 

One day, My Achia: My pulse!

School and the fragrance of books will love her,

Poems will enliven to know

What a mystery the world is!

 

A tiny eddy

Though carnivore relishes you

Thou would have known at ages

You are born a slave to lechery

 

The flesh invites enmity to the deer

The huntsman seeks no other jackal

‘Leave this arcadia, my love,’

Appeals the male to the deer

And does she flee with much haste and fear.

 

Achia deer! If I could,

I would mortgage my flesh;

Why you let them molest

Thy breastless chest,

Who cares about your cries

As a razor tears thy hymen?

  • Note: Achia was a little girl of 8 years, who was raped brutally and murdered by her brother-in-law, and the law’s father and brother in March 2025, while she came to visit her sister’s house

Snigdha Baul has been a highly sought-after name since her first publication in 2017. She is credited with eight additional poetry collections. She enjoys exploring femininity against the backdrop of urban life. She is not bound to the fixed principle of feminine expression. Instead, she wants to reveal an authentic experience of a woman exposed through her body and mind. Her publications are as follows:

  Daily Degradation — Suman Biswas In the tranquil breeze now sleeps the holy Serpent— merging with the world, it pours its poison into the air. Power swells like a rising flood. The bandit's Jagadish   tills  the soil with hate; the sages drift into oblivion, dreams shattered in vain. And thus, Rangpur has  turned into Raurava — all around, the pride of harmony  falls apart day by day.
